Meissen tabatiere with absorbent cotton scenes and erotic porcelain. Rectangular body with domed hinged lid. Rocaille cartouches in relief all around the wall and underside with copper-green absorbent cotton scenes in an architectural park landscape. Corresponding depiction of a gallant courtly couple in front of a stone park vase on the lid. The inner lid with an erotic scene. A gentleman in a frock sitting in a vineyard in the presence of a young, unclothed lady. Fine, polychrome and copper-green camaieum painting. Gilt interior. Wave-profiled, gilt copper mount with slightly extended thumb grip. H. 4.5 cm. 8 cm x 6 cm. A gilt copper-mounted porcelain snuff box with polychrome and copper-green painted Watteau decor and erotic scene. Meissen. Mid 18th century.
