Rare Baroque goblet with emblem Colorless, thin-walled glass. Flat disc base, baluster stem, high, bell-shaped dome above a ring disc. Matte-cut decoration combined with fine, blown pearls. On the front a cartouche-framed allegorical scene with two cupids shooting at a heart with bow and arrow, corresponding inscription on the reverse "SUCHEN ES ZU VERLETZEN". H. 14 cm. The motif on the front was taken from plate 35 of the well-known Emblemata book "Emblematische Gemüths-Vergnügung (...)" by Daniel de La Feuille, first published in Augsburg in 1693 in German translation (by Heinrich Offelen), which was conceived as an emblematic pattern book for visual artists and craftsmen. A North German engraved glass goblet with allegorical emblem of two cupids shooting at a heart. North German. Early 18th century.
