Roman school, early 19th century Virtue and the Law Oil on canvas 92x132 cm - with frame 100x194 cm This canvas, of very high quality, is the work of a classically trained painter, between the end of the 18th and the beginning of the 19th. The subject is taken from the fresco in the Stanza della Segnatura in the Vatican, painted by Raphael in 1511. The fame of the Urbino never knew any respite, and became particularly acute throughout the eighteenth century, as demonstrated by this painting.
