Renaissance tower clock by Master Nikolaus Schmidt the Younger (1582 - 1637)
Brass and copper, fire-gilt. Rectangular clock case with removable side panels and open-worked, applied lattice elements on all sides, flanked by canted corner pilasters. Dome-shaped upper end with various baluster crowns as a bell case. In the front erg. Dial for hours as well as control dial and two windings on the reverse. Movement with verge escapement, fusee and chain and hour strike. Alarm movement missing. One side element marked Niclaus Schmitz der Junger. Below added. Profiled base of ebonized wood. Overall height 29.5 cm. 23 cm x 23 cm.
