Empire picture plate with scenic depiction Round shape, unglazed gold rim with Cymation relief frieze. The slightly recessed mirror medallion depicts a young, seated lady in an Empire dress against a magnificent architectural backdrop. A child lying on the ground, suckled by a goat. Polychrome painting. A surrounding gold-etched border of motif reserves and ornamentation on the banner. Minimally worn; maker's mark with inscription "Par brevet d'inv.tion" in gold. D. 24 cm.
Provenance: from the important collection of the Frankfurt banking family von Bethmann, which grew over generations.
