In a simple parlor, an old farmer's wife stands bent over the open fire of the stove and is closely observed by the farm cat, which has sat down next to the stairs. A sensitively staged genre painting with obvious parallels to Burger's works in terms of composition and subject. Oil/wood panel. 21.3 cm x 15.3 cm. Frame.
Provenance: from the important collection of the Frankfurt banking family von Bethmann, which grew over generations.
