JOAN FONTCUBERTA 1955- "Imago, ergo sum", La Fabrica, 2016, 192p. Book. Rare signed copy. In-4° (28 x 23 cm) By what devices are ideas communicated? Where do images reside? A selection of eight of Joan Fontcuberta's most significant projects confronts us with these questions. Herbarium, Fauna, Sputnik, Securitas, Pin Zhuang, Miracles & Co, Deconstructing Osama and Trepat mark out between 1984 and 2014 an artistic investigation aptly known as the problematization of "regimes of truth" in photography. Over the course of his career, Fontcuberta has successfully presented the photographic image in a variety of forms. Seeking to go beyond two-dimensional representation, he has regularly used different objects, devices and installations in his work to support the discourse of each new proposal he has put forward. IMAGO, ERGO SUM highlights the display mechanisms that usually accompany the development of a creative project in the form of a book, a visual narrative conceived as a work of art that allows photography to deploy its syntactic potential to the full. For the artist, both the distribution in space - whether inside or outside a museum - and the published volume are equally important, both acting as tangential approaches in the service of the same concept.
