Chest of drawers. Berlin, c. 1797-1800. blindwood. Larch, maple, sycamore, Virginian juniper and Cuban mahogany veneer. Two-door plinth with kneehole, with a full-length writing compartment above. Set back, architecturally structured top. The central section with a shutter, behind it a mirror, small panels with antique-style grisaille painting on a blue background. Elaborately decorated mirror compartment with diced, colored parquet. Columns and pilasters made of white marble with gilded capitals and bases, gilded leaf moldings. Filigree gallery and ball finial. Bronze applications partially gilded. Original locks. Flute mechanism no longer present. Rest. added. H: 202 x 137.5 x 77 cm. Cf.
