Important and elegant KIRMAN-RAVER carpet (Persia), circa 1880
Dimensions : 468 x 308cm.
Technical features : Wool velvet on cotton backing.
A majestic pastel starry rosette and its arrowed pendants are delicately set on an oblong old-pink field adorned with fine polychrome floral scrolls in predominantly bluish tones. Four ivory-blue, honeycombed spandrels decorated with four magnificent fleur-de-lys encircle the field with their arabesques. The whole is framed by seven borders (The Seven Steps to Paradise) with multicolored and varied floral ornamentation. Ivory is the color of the main border. Great poetry.
