Important and elegant BAO-TAO rug (China), late 19th century Dimensions : 385 x 305cm. Technical features: Wool velvet on wool backing. A royal blue field dotted with floral stems, butterflies and bats supports a central floral medallion framed by four smaller medallions adorned with birds. A Greek-style ivory counter-border, as well as a Prussian blue counter-border with pearls, highlight the two main blue borders with interlacing plants and bats.
