VERY IMPORTANT AND EXCELLENT PAINTING "LE BOUFFON DU ROI" by ADRIEN DE BOUCHERVILLE (1829-1883) Oil on canvas, signed at the bottom halfway up the left leg of the jester in the background. Size: 130 x 80 cm Sold by designation Boucherville specialized in eighteenth-century anecdotal genre scenes depicting bourgeois or aristocratic interiors, scenes that were in vogue at the time and not devoid of mawkishness. He presented some of his works at various Parisian salons and exhibitions, notably "La Vendange" at the 1866 Salon, and "Le dernier-né" and "Passe-temps" at the 1879 Salon at the Palais des Champs-Élysées. From 1864 to 1882, he took part in no fewer than 16 exhibitions at the Musée des Beaux-Arts in Lyon. He sent many of his works to various exhibitions in America.
