IMPORTANT PANEL "THE INCREDUITY OF SAINT THOMAS" 17th century Italian school in the entourage of Johann Karl Loth Oil on canvas, re-backed later 19th century, lifting of paint layer. Later stucco frame. Size: 107 x 118 cm (view) Restorations Sold by designation Johann Karl Loth, also known as Carlo Lotti or the Carlotto, born in Munich on August 8, 1632, died in Venice on September 6, 1698, was a Bavarian Baroque painter who spent much of his life in Venice. It is possible that he went to Rome, where he immersed himself in the work of Caravaggio and the Carracci, before settling in Venice around 1655 during the period of "Tenebrism". He was probably a pupil of Pietro Liberi. Until his death, he ran an important workshop.
