The "Société Lorraine des anciens établissements de Dietrich et Cie de Lunéville", commonly known as Lorraine-Dietrich, acquired a very strong reputation in competition, notably through its record of victories in the Paris-Madrid race in 1903 and especially in the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1924, 1925 and a triple win in 1926.
The vehicle on display features an astonishing and rare period mechanical modification by a 4-cylinder CR2-type opposed diesel engine built and distributed by Compagnie Lilloise des Moteurs (CLM), which equipped the Maginot Line with its stationary engines.
With an interesting and complete period documentation on the CLM brand, and its file of invoices for bodywork and mechanical maintenance, it's off to the road.
Its hood is new and its magnificent patina has been preserved, so it's best left in its original state!
