Koran, um 1860 Koran - Arabic handwriting in cursive calligraphy, in black ink, some characters and terms in red. Circa 1860. 2 white leaves, 135 handwritten leaves with 13 lines of script. With richly decorated double unwan (title page) with tezhip vignette and floral border in gold and polychrome. 4°. Red maroquin binding with applied, blind-stamped paper inlays, partly illuminated in blue (spine restored, slightly bumped) - Arabic manuscript (probably Nashkî) on thin paper (page size 31 x 19.5 cm, type area 25.5 x 14.5 cm) each framed in a linear border in blue and red. The intertitles also in red and with blue decorations - On the first white sheets 1 bookplate each of 'Heuch, Balfour & Co., Manchaster' and 'Wallace & Co., Bombay', on verso handwritten note in English 'Presented to Direktor Dr. Med. Paul Hörnig by Thomas Albert Heatherly, ... of Allianz und Stuttgarter (Life Insurance Bank, Ltd.) Delhi on his visit to the Head office for India'.- Occasional light (foxing) spotting, 1 title page with minimal tear at foot joint and a few small holes in the gilt border.
