Without binding - Graesse IV, 48; Fabula docet 81 - German-French edition of the description of the Versailles Labyrinth by Charles Perrault, first published in 1677 - set of '41. Kunstreichen Kupfferstücken deß Grundes, Eingang, u. eines jeden Spring-Brunnens' (preface to the 'Ergötzlichkeit-Liebenden Leser'). The garden architect Le Notre had designed the 39 animal fountains of the labyrinth garden based on Aesopian fables. Perrault had his work illustrated in 1677 with copper engravings by Sébastien Le Clerc, Krauß engraved these illustrations very precisely in reverse and had the French text translated by Andreas Müller.- Title loose and backed at headpiece.- Plan browned, mounted and with marginal lesions.- Some foxing throughout.
