A collection of ten late 19th and early 20th century fans, Japanese, Chinese and European, including an ebonised fan printed and handpainted with a processional coach, 27 cm long and a handpainted lace fan, 36 cm long, contained in a Victorian oak box, with brass handles and plaque inscribed 'Mrs Russell Jas. Kerr, The Haie 1878', 48 cm wide, 14.5 cm high, 27.5 cm deep The box contains a handwritten letter dated October 12th 1938, 'Four Fans/ For Jane Kerr on her 18th birthday. The fans belonged to Jane Kerr who died in 1855. That Jane Kerr was first cousin to William Kerr M.D. who bought the Haie in 1857.'
