French school circa 1700: Vierge de Calvaire. Statuette in fruitwood. Height: 28 cm (vertical crack, small accidents).
This Vierge de Calvaire, with her hands crossed over her chest as a sign of contrition, shows similarities with the style of Robert le Lorrain (1666-1743), notably in the beautiful treatment of the draperies spreading over the terrace (cf. sainte Émilienne from the Dôme des Invalides).
