France: Maréchaussée saber, model 1783. Brass palmettes mounting, short-tailed cap decorated with parallel lines, 2-prong palmettes guard on joint arc. Drop-shaped quillon. Watermarked wooden spindle (watermark missing). Single-edged straight blade decorated with trophies and foliage. Steel scabbard (later) with 2 suspension rings, brass stinger (not attached). Oxidation. TL: 94.5 cm
