Following on from the Mercury program and paving the way for the Apollo program, Gemini was NASA's second manned flight program (12 flights between 1964 and 1966, 10 of them manned).
Gemini Titan V (GT-5) was the third manned mission of the Gemini program.
Gordon Cooper and Charles Conrad carried out the first space flight, which lasted more than a week - the time needed to consider a trip to the moon.
Through their portholes, the two astronauts photographed the Earth from space, as part of their scientific experiments.
