Well made by Edmé Samson Paris, late 19th cent, underglaze blue Meissen imitation mark (Marcolini swords), porcelain body in classicist style, richly decorated with ornamental relief, sculptural trimming, bird motifs and flower bouquets in polychrome overglaze painting as well as colour and gold staffage, a lyre-shaped clock case on an oblong profiled pedestal with five feet, with a mounted vase finial and floral bouquet and a lady in an antique-style robe reading a book, behind a round glass cover with brass bezel a functioning pendulum movement with half-hour strike on a bell, marked Médaille D'Argent Vincenti & Cie. 1855, number 1022, immaculate enamelled dial with Roman and Arabic numerals and open-worked hands, old restored case slightly cracked by fire, gilding partially rubbed and leaf trimming minimally chipped, h 45 cm.
