France Japonism vase
probably Edmé Samson Paris, late 19th cent, Brushed fantasy mark, indistinct embossed mark and brush number, spherical body with cylindrical neck, brown ground, craquele glaze and light relief decoration in polychrome enamel and onglaze painting, shaded gold and decorated with gold powder, the front with a curved cartouche depicting a wild duck in flight, flanked by a blackberry and floral motif, gold rim, gilt metal mount with four paw feet and lion heads, the decoration minimally rubbed and signs of wear inside, otherwise in good condition for its age, h 33 cm.
