Meissen decorative plate "Kauffahrteiszene" Painting in the style of Christian Friedrich Herold (1700-1779), underglaze blue crossed swords mark probably c. 1800, impressed numbers 14 and 10, small indistinct brush number in gold and red painter's mark, slightly moulded form with openwork relief decoration on the rim, the mirror framed by an iron-red double ring, the harbour scene finely painted in polychrome onglaze, richly detailed depiction of oriental and European merchants and anchored sailing ships in front of a group of architecture and rocks, gold staffage and gold rim, very good condition for its age with tiny firing marks and slight signs of wear, diameter 23 cm.
