Eugene Pavy, an artist active in France, is renowned for his paintings. He traveled extensively to Algeria, Tunisia, Morocco, and likely Egypt, drawing inspiration for his narrative depictions of the Orient. Among his works is a museum-quality, antique original watercolor and gouache painting titled "Soudanese Mail Messenger" from 1896, set in Suakin, Sudan. This piece measures 19 inches by 16 inches and is signed and dated by the artist in the lower right corner. It is framed in a thin, gilded antique wood frame and is in good condition.
