Albrecht Dürer (1471 - Nuremberg - 1528) - St. George on foot
Copper engraving on laid paper with trimmed watermark "Ox's head with five-part flower" (Meder watermark 62). (c. 1502/03). 11.4 x 7.2 cm (sheet size).
Bartsch 53; Meder 55 a-b (from f); Schoch/Mende/Scherbaum 34 a-b (from f).
Splendid, contrast-rich, clear and sharp early impression, with the vertical glitch along the upper half of the right margin, before the scratches in the landscape and the dragon, as demanded by Meder for the early impressions. Trimmed to the platemark. - Minimally uneven at the left edge. Verso with remnants of former mounting.
So beautiful of great rarity!
