Bound in full pink morocco, spine ribbed and richly decorated with large fleurons and fillets; wide framing of lace, fleurons and fillets on the boards, dotted roulette on the edges; gray morocco lining mosaic with pink morocco listels forming a wide frame of mosaic floral motifs with fillets, gray silk endpapers, double marbled paper endpapers, gilt edges on witnesses, illustrated cover preserved, half pink morocco jacket lined with leather, lined and edged slipcase. Beautiful lined binding by Weckesser et ses fils. From the libraries of Alain de Suzannet and F. Bemelmans with bookplates. First edition, probably one of the unnumbered copies on large Alfa vellum mentioned by Talvart and Place, there were only 18 numbered copies on large paper. The cover is illustrated with a color composition by Pierre BONNARD. EXCEPTIONAL EXEMPLAIRE ENRICHED WITH 48 ORIGINAL AQUARELLES BY EDMOND MALASSIS (1874-1944): 15 full-page, 20 mid-page at chapter headings, 13 in the culs-de-lampe.
