KPM Porcelain Plaque, St. John The Evangelist after Domenichino, Ca. 1875 A large hand painted KPM porcelain plaque after the Baroque painting by Il Domenichino, depicting St. John the Evangelist seated with a book and scroll, beside him a poisoned chalice with emerging snake, his eyes gazing at an eagle, the symbol by which he is often represented. The plaque is housed in its original frame. Type: Plaque Materials: Porcelain Markings & Inscriptions: Marked Date: Midto late 19th century Maker: KPM Dimensions: 13.25" x 11.25", 22" x 20" framed. Provenance: From a Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania collection. Very good condition, frame with some wear including scattered losses.
