A renowned painter and engraver, he made his own the training of F. Porta for painting and B. Bossi for etching. After an initial phase devoted to history painting, he devoted himself to painting peasant figures placed in landscape settings. His art drew on the examples of the so-called Bamboccianti painters of the previous century, revisited in an Arcadian key like the Venetians Giuseppe Zais and Francesco Zuccarelli or the Romans Andrea Locatelli and Paolo Monaldi .
