Guido Reni (Bologna 1575 - 1642) workshop of Erythraean Sibyl Oil on canvas 74 x 64 cm The work perfectly expresses the aesthetic canons of Reni's art, it stems from similarly designed works such as the St. Luke of Bob Jones University or the Sybil of Mahon Collection in London. The excellent quality with which the painting in question is executed allows us to judge it as an expression of Guido Reni's workshop, that is, under his direction without excluding his partial intervention. The Reni style can be summarized as the exaltation of classicism, that is, the constant idealization of reality, due to the search for the ideal beauty. Born into the Accademia degli Incamminati, he was a faithful supporter of the most classicist of the three cousins, Annibale Carracci. He in turn had an important workshop where important painters were trained, including: Guido Cagnacci, Simone Cantarini, Pier Francesco Cittadini, Michele Desubleo, Francesco Gessi, Giovanni Andrea and Elisabetta Sirani, Flaminio Torri and Giovan Giacomo Sementi. Guido Reni (Bologna 1575 - 1642) workshop of Sibyl of Eritrea Oil on canvas 74 x 64 cm The artwork perfectly expresses the aesthetic canons of Reni's art, it comes from artworks with a similar design such as the Saint Luke of Bob Jones University or the Sibyl of the Mahon Collection in London.
