Rare silver grand eagle plaque of the Legion of Honor, once owned by Marshal Ney.
In silver, in imitation of the canetille plaques.
Two-part center with Henri IV's profile, with "Honneur et Patrie" (Honor and Homeland) inscribed around the edge in blue enamel.
Attachment in the Biennais silversmith's special pattern.
Diameter: 84 mm.
Weight: 42g.
B. First Empire period, modified under the first Restoration, (three balls missing from the ends of the points and one ball broken). Manufacture attributed to Biennais.

Attached is a round miniature, on ivory, of Marshal Ney, in full uniform, wearing the grand eagle plaque of the Legion of Honor of the First Empire, the grand cordon, the officer's star and the iron crown, marked "M.B. 1809".
Under glass, encircled by gilded brass.
Diameter: 78 mm.
