Alcove cartel
in Boulle marquetry, first part brass, second part tortoiseshell. The top is crowned with a putto brandishing a sundial. The rectangular case, curved at the top, is decorated with foliate scrolls. The edges are highlighted with gilded bronzes in the form of acanthus leaves. The gilded and silvered dial features hours in Roman numerals, minutes in Arabic numerals and days at the bottom. A second dial shows the date and phases of the Moon. The set rests on four leonine feet.
Unsigned plate and brocade suspension.
Height: 50 cm.
