Album page with miniature and calligraphic quatrain Ink, polychrome pigments and gold on paper India, 19th century Page: 29 x 19.5 cm On the recto, a miniature of a turbaned old man leaning on a thin stick on a brown background, with two flowery spandrels in the upper part, decorated with polychrome rinceaux in bloom on a red background. The miniature is set in blue margins speckled with gold. On the reverse, a quatrain is written in broad nasta'liq calligraphy on a background of golden leaves, flowers and scrolls, framed by a fine calligraphic frieze, set in purple margins speckled with gold. (Restored tears on the miniature, altered corners).
