Religious manuscript Ink, polychrome pigments and gold on paper, red leather binding with embossed decoration Ottoman world, dated 1253 AH - 1837 AD 15.9 x 11.6 x 1.8 cm An acephalous manuscript featuring a hagiographic text on the life of the Prophet Muhammad, as well as prayers and two polychrome illustrations of Mecca and Medina. The text, in black and red naskh script, is spread over 11 lines, within gilded framing fillets. It ends with a colophon mentioning the name of the copyist Hafiz Mohamed Hamdi, a pupil of Hafiz Ali Choukri. (First few leaves missing, wear to binding, leaves detached). Also included: Bookbinder's plate decorated with deeply stamped and gilded mandorla and floral motifs Brown and red leather with stamped and gilded decoration Turkey, 18th - 19th century 17.8 cm x 10.7 cm
