Popular image. The witch. 19th century. Lithograph on 3 leaves. 165x68cm. Condition A. This spectacular image shows two witches. One with classic attributes: broom, snake, turtle, spider, cards. And one in the sky, flying to the Sabbath on her broom. These images, printed in Wissenbourg (Alsace), were often destined for the carnival, and so ended up being destroyed by the populace. Our copy is remarkable not only for the number of magical and esoteric symbols and attributes it displays, but also for its life-size format.
