The Charm of the Train in Futurist Painting
The work 'Il treno entra in stazione' (The train enters the station), datable to around 1921, is, as Maurizio Scudiero recalls in his archive file, 'an intriguing composition by a Baldessari fascinated by the encounter between a powerful locomotive that drives the train inside the station under the high, curving metal vaults.
The 'puffs' of the train, of the boiler upwards, and of the plungers moving the wheels, downwards, fill the atmosphere and make the space inside the station seem like a Dantean cavern’.
Maurizio Scudiero, filing sheet dated Rovereto 18 February 2024
