MONET Claude (1840 - 1926) L.A.S. "Claude Monet", Giverny October 9, 1917, to André BARBIER; 2 1/2 pages in-8 addressed to André BARBIER.
Giverny par Vernon, in purple pencil, envelope.
To painter André BARBIER (1883-1970).
"I'm very late, as always, in replying to you. But after such a bad season, I had to take advantage of the wonderful days of September to work more and more. So I'm exhausted and at the end of my tether, and I'm off to rest for a few days by the sea, which I haven't seen for a long time.
So I won't have the pleasure of your visit until later, because as soon as I return and have a good rest I intend to resume my winter work with great zeal. You will then kindly remind me of your desire to come, and I hope without too much confidence that my friend Geffroy will accompany you.
