HUGO (Victor). AUTOGRAPH LETTER signed, addressed to Théodore de Banville. Hauteville House, August 9. 1 p. in-12. BEAUTIFUL LETTER written during his exile on the island of Guernsey (1855-1870) to the author of the Odes Funambulesques: "I was going to write to you, having just read your luminous and profound article on [Auguste] Vacquerie. Your verses, addressed to me, come to me; I was delighted, now I'm tenderized. It's great and touching [...]". He then recalls the tragic death of his daughter Léopoldine, who drowned in September 1843: "I am thinking of a painful anniversary that is approaching". ATTACHED: AUTOGRAPHIC WORD signed to the lawyer Jules Nicolet (1819-1880). 1 p. in-12. "Thank you, Sir. What comes from your heart goes to mine. [...] "
