Nothing predestined Damien Demaiter for painting. It's a mode of expression that saved him from a school world he'd closed himself off to. It was an art teacher who, aware of his abilities, guided him towards this mode of expression and communication. He pushed him to use a variety of techniques and processes, encouraging him to produce advanced, delicate works that demanded precision, observation and pugnacity. He exhibited for the first time at the age of 13.
