CHRIST EN GLOIRE Lot n° 17

Last Judgment in painted and gilded carved wood. Christ sits majestically on a bow as the glorious Risen One, his stygmata clearly visible. He is clothed simply in a red cape over his shoulders, fastened with a lace. On either side are two musician angels. Swabian, second half of the 14th century. Height: 53.5 cm - Width: 44 cm Depth : 12 cm (Misses and visible accidents) The Landesmuseum Württemberg in Stuttgart holds a group carved around 1360 depicting Saint John blessed by Christ [N° WLM 11564], whose treatment is similar to our sculpture.
