Important old Soumak rug, wool on wool foundation, hook and needle work, brick field decorated with three cruciform medallions inlaid with multiple symbols, surrounded by stylized pyramids (symbol of immortality) and boxes with tarantulas and stylized turtles, "hound dog" terminal border. Late 19th or early 20th century. Size: 365 x 230 cm Natural wear and oxidation. We enclose : CAUCASE - A Kazak gallery carpet in wool velvet on a cotton ground, brown field decorated with six polychrome star-shaped medallions with hourglasses, stylized animals and crabs, surrounded by stylized forks, triple borders, the main one with stripes - Late 19th century - Dim. 275 x 105 cm - Holes, wear and natural oxidation.
