Watch concealed in a mandolin shape in 18k (750 thousandths) yellow gold decorated with half-pearls, probably natural, and transparent red enamel over guilloché. The strings are made of gold wire connected to the pegs (the tailpiece needs to be soldered). The circular opening is covered by a curved glass revealing the watch movement. The sound box is decorated around the perimeter with a finely painted score entitled Paul et Virgin(ie). The neck is elegantly enameled in red over guilloché with black enamel touches. The back of the case is adorned with an engraved flower, none other than a violet and yellow pansy, the language of flowers being commonplace in the 19th century.
Manual mechanical movement with key (present).
Verge escapement movement.
Enamel dial with Arabic numerals and 15-minute division.
Case back numbered 2062.
Very good condition, enamel missing and glass missing.
Functional at time of appraisal.
