BOLVILLER, Paris, circa 1850 18k (750 thousandths) yellow gold watch, finely engraved all over except for the front, where the central medallion features a painted gallant scene surrounded by a border of fine black enamel. The back is spectacular, as the polychrome enamel slides perfectly between the three-gold engraving. Two small chips in the enamel. Manual mechanical movement with key (present, in metal, not compatible). Enamel dial with Roman numerals. Cylinder escapement. The watch is numbered 6 2406. Very good condition, glass detached. Functional at time of appraisal. Gross weight: 35.8 g. One of Bolviller's watches is in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, no. 26.267.43.
