SENOUFO, Tingréla region, Ivory Coast. Wood, old patina. Important "Pliéwo" monoxyle caryatid drum consisting of a resonance box sealed by a skin fixed and stretched by wooden pegs. This large drum, used in Poro initiation rituals, is supported by a female figure seated on a stool, whose raised arms support the drum. The walls are sculpted in relief with mythical characters and animal figures. 1st third of the 20th century. Height: 118 cm. Cracks, traces of erosion.
