Many of the gaming ones are known to studies and preserved mostly in private collections; several show in the lids a varied sampling of aesthetic solutions made of fine naturalistic inlays in various woods on bottoms often in walnut briar. Graziano Manni publishes one (among many) with stylized rosettes at the corners, a stylistic feature that allows us to attribute ours to the same, albeit anonymous, ducal workshop (Mobili antichi in Emilia Romagna, Modena 1993, pp. 240, no. 513). Finally, for comparison, mention should be made of a pair of examples of similar taste passed in a Wannenes Genoa sale on March 3, 2020 (auction 306, lot 122). Reference bibliography: G.
