This Christ is a work of the famous Sevillian imaginer Manuel Tellez, who currently enjoys great recognition among the brotherhoods of his city. It is the dead body of Christ, most probably belonging to the passage of his burial, along with other figures in this case absent. The body of Jesus is represented practically naked, barely covered by the "perizonium" or cloth of purity, but on the sheet that has served to take him down from the cross and now serves as a shroud.
The excellent carvings of Tellez madera have been carried in numerous processions and patron saint festivals, such as his celebrated Señora de la Misericordia (Our Lady of Mercy). Spokesmen for the Brotherhood of Jesus of Forgiveness highlighted the "expression" and "look" of the Virgin, as they explained, which has "a great sacred unction" and calls for "prayer". Manuel Téllez Berraquero was also appointed to make the Christ of Mercy, head of the Parish Group of the same title and which is attached to the parish of Our Lady of Amparo. The sculptor was also responsible for carving the image of the Virgin of Sorrows, of the same Association.
