GANU GANTCHEFF (20th century). "Le mythe de Sisyphe", ca. 1930. Sculpture in patinated bronze Signed. Measurements: 67 x 12 x 27 cm. Ganu Gantcheff was a Bulgarian sculptor who developed his career in Paris, at least, from the twenties of the last century, as the dates of birth and death are unknown. He is known for chrysoelephantine pieces for the manufacture of Arthur Goldscheider, as well as a participation in the Society of French Artists in Paris with the work "Pudique". This sculpture full of movement and strength represents with great success the myth of Sisyphus under the aesthetics of Art Deco. The result must have deeply satisfied the sculptor, as there are other versions of the work, where the wheel is replaced by a rock.
