LAURENCE DUPUY (XIX-XX).
"Danseuse aux cymbales", ca. 1920.
Sculpture in patinated bronze.
Presents stamp of the Susse Frères foundry.
Signed: L. DUPUY and SUSSE FRES. EDTS.
Measurements: 31 x 15 x 15 x 15 cm.
The sculpture represents a nude dancer with cymbals or cymbals, captured in full show in a position in which she seems to be about to lose her balance. The dance and the dance were among the main entertainments of the western society at the beginning of the 20th century, being the cymbals accompanied by other instruments like flutes or bells, so it is not surprising that the dancers were one of the most common themes in the artistic production of the moment.
