Group in biscuit, in which the quality of the manufacture of Sitzendorf is appreciated. Three peasant women and a shepherd, besides two little love birds pouring water from a jar, and a couple of goats grazing, compose a lively scene of bucolic subject. The first porcelain factory established in Sitzendorf was founded in 1760 by Georg Heinrich Macheleidt under the protection of the prince of Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt, but in 1762 the factory was moved to Volkstedt by order of the prince. In 1850 a new factory was opened, which began to stand out for its quality in 1884, when Alfred and Carl Wilhelm Voigt took over the management. It then began to manufacture parts in the Dresden style, with such success that by 1909 the factory was equipped with innovative steam-powered machinery.
