"Female portrait.
Oil on canvas.

Bust of lady resolved with warm shades that blur the contours, thus enhancing the enigmatic bearing of the young woman with big eyes and pensive countenance. Painter and draftsman, Antonio Torres Fuster specialized in the genre costumbrista, with a predilection for the female figure, specifically "bailaoras", gypsies and cupletistas. He participated in various collective exhibitions and artistic competitions such as the Barcelona Exhibitions of 1894, 1896 and 1919, or the Art Exhibition held in Vilafranca del Penedés in 1926. He also exhibited his works at the 17th Annual Extraordinary Exhibition of the Sala Parés in 1900. Antonio Torres Fuster is represented in the Museum of Modern Art of Tarragona, as well as in important Spanish private collections.
