Smooth spine decorated with gilt irons. 450 woodcut vignettes in text, 29 engravings by Tony Johannot on chine pastedown, captions on serpents, 7 engraved portraits. A colored map of the Ile de France. Copy conforms to Carteret's "Trésor du Bibliophile romantique" III, pp. 532 - 547. Copy complete with the "portrait de la bonne femme" [actually the portrait of Madame Curmer], last page of "La chaumière indienne", which is often missing. The publisher's address is "rue de Richelieu", indicating one of the first copies of this edition [Most of this edition is addressed "25, rue Sainte Anne"]. Some unavoidable foxing. Ryckebusch I, 694.
