Félix Charpentier (1858-1924) Awakening White marble Signed "F. CHARPENTIER". Jacomet, 1934 Felix Charpentier studied at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris with Jules Cavelier. He enjoyed a successful career at the turn of the 20th century, exhibiting regularly at the Salon and taking on major public commissions. We owe him the beautiful group L'Art contemporain on the façade of the Grand Palais, and the Musée d'Orsay, the Musée du Luxembourg and the Musée d'Avignon hold some of his works. While he specialized in carving graceful female figures in marble, his works were also cast in bronze by the publisher Colin.
